What I Ate Wednesday #11 {Shakeology Cleanse}

The day after my fun-food-filled-Sunday was hard on my body.  I woke up feeling HORRIBLE.  Before I got out of bed, I decided today was the day I really needed to do the Shakeology Cleanse.  I’d tried it once before and failed miserably after about 6 hours.  This time was different.  This time, my body was hurting.  I committed to just one day of the three day cleanse. I told myself, “You can do anything for ONE DAY.”

Here’s what I ate during the Shakeology Cleanse:

Breakfast: Green Tea

Like I said – I woke up feeling horrible. I wasn’t hungry, and I didn’t want to eat anything.  Hot green tea was a little refreshing and a little gross at the same time.

Morning Snack: Shakeology with Frozen Banana

I was supposed to have a shake for breakfast, but I wasn’t up for it until about 10AM.  My initial lack of hunger helped me through the day. Normally, I’m starving at 10AM.

Like my birthday card? It’s been on my bulletin board at work for a couple years now. Ha!

Lunch: Shakeology with Frozen Mixed Fruit

Lunch was a true test of my commitment to the cleanse.  I was starting to get hungry and I wasn’t sure a shake would satisfy me.  Luckily, it was a beautiful sunshiny day, so on my way home to lunch, I stopped at a patio and chatted with some tourists.  They were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary!  When I finally went home, I walked in to see a delightful snoozing kitty.  She’s so nice when she’s asleep!

Afternoon: Green Tea, Apple, Water

Two hours after lunch, I ate my fruit snack for the day and drank my second green tea.  I started to realize that I felt satisfied after these small but frequent meals.  I ate 100-200 calories at a time which was enough to tame the hunger. Drinking water helped a lot for several reasons.

Dinner: Salad!, Shakeology

After work, I went for a walk – jog – run and enjoyed the afternoon sun and sunset.  Luckily, I tend to be less hungry after I exercise.  I gathered random veggies from the fridge and compiled this salad with radishes, tomato, cucumber, and a touch of balsamic vinegar.  Later, I drank my last shake of the day and went to bed early!

To my surprise, the cleanse went really well. I felt much better physically. I was surprised that I could survive on such few calories and actual food. I was only a little surprised that I stuck to the plan.  I knew I was capable of committing for one day. I just had to distract myself at times.

You can follow this plan – It’s as simple as I’ve listed here. Make the shakes with water and only add 1 serving of fruit to the first two shakes if you choose.  For dinner, you’re allowed 4 oz of fish or chicken, but I didn’t have any on hand!
