Workout Wednesday – Measure Your Progress + A Fit Test

It’s Workout Wednesday!!

Did you do your workout today?

If not, GO DO IT!  At minimum go for a walk around the block!

On Wednesdays, I teach an INSANITY class at lunch. A lot of professionals who work Downtown come to this quick class to get fit on their lunch break!

Today, we took a Fit Test!!

What!?

Why!?

We decided to start this once a month fit test a few months ago as a way to encourage progress and celebration. {High fives are our favorite!}

Fit tests are a good way to measure your progress in the gym.

Sometimes weight loss goals can be super discouraging or not even applicable, so tracking a few gym stats can give you something to be excited about and work toward.

Here’s what we did today:

5 Minute Warm Up

1 Minute for each move with a 1 Minute Rest between moves.

1. SWITCH KICKS
2. POWER JACKS
3. POWER KNEES
4. POWER JUMPS
5. GLOBE JUMPS
6. BURPEE JUMPS
7. PUSH-UP JACKS
8. LOW PLANK OBLIQUE

Make a chart, start your stop watch and GO!

Be mindful to take the full 1 minute rest after the first few moves even though it will feel like a long time. You’ll be thankful for it later!

This whole process will take you about 20 minutes. I promise it will be a good workout!!

Remember to BREATHE!  and Count. It’s terrible to get through your minute and realize you didn’t count. LOL

Other ideas for fit tests include:

100 Burpee, 100 Kettlebell Challenge {how long does it take you?}

Maximum Bench Press Weight {or any other exercise}

Wall Sit {how long can you stay?}

Run One Mile {how long does it take?}

What’s your favorite type of exercise?

Track one thing you love and one thing you don’t love and see how you improve over the month or year.

Which Fit Test will you do this week?

Send me a note and tell me how it goes!!
