Quick Tip to Reduce Stress

Today I was feeling super stressed because my to do list is quite long, and I’m getting ready to leave town for 5 days.

I like to leave town with everything neat and tidy, and it’s looking like that’s not going to happen.

Insert – hair on fire stress.

One thing that was important on my list was to make a video for my community.

I pulled out my notes from Business Mastery and located my next video topic and found something very fitting.

You can’t get caught up running the 11th mile if you haven’t yet run the 2nd mile.

I was looking at a finished list – the 11th mile – when I didn’t even have my tennis shoes on yet. There’s no way I can run the 11th mile if I haven’t got my shoes on and run miles 1-10.

Before I read the quote, I had already started to solve my problem in this way.

After too long of feeling overwhelmed, I asked myself a question.

What’s the ONE thing I could do right now to ease the overwhelm or move forward on my list?

When we feel stressed, it’s often because we’re looking at the 100 things we need to do or 100 steps it will take to reach our goal instead of just looking at one thing.

You can only take action on ONE thing at a given time anyway. Generally taking multiple actions at the same time just leads to more anxiety and less excellence.

Strategic big picture plans are important and necessary; however, when it’s time to take action you just do one thing – not 7 things at one time.

Sometimes the next best thing you need to do is to write down a list of all the things floating around in your head.

Then you can move forward with prioritized focused action.

Bye bye stress!

Lately I’ve been using a hot herbal “tea” to help ease my stress, calm my mind, and help me sleep. If you’d like more peace and restful sleep, then ask me about it.
