Life Hack: Own What Works for You

Ever feel like you SHOULD be doing something a different way – like meal prepping or getting up at 5am? You think If you did “this”, then you’d get better results?

Today was so fun – I got to chat with 10 different people about my September Test Group. I love talking on the phone – I didn’t realize how much I missed it until recently!

Often my clients tend to say similar things about their health and fitness habits.

Today was no exception.

I know I SHOULD {fill in your favorite thing to beat yourself up about}

These “should” sentences could give you clues into what’s holding you back that you could let go of or what’s the next thing you really need to do.

Many times today, I heard “I know I should start meal prepping so can eat healthy. I just hate it.”

My job as a coach is to help move people forward, so you know what I say when people say this?

No, You Don’t.

You’ve got to figure out what works for YOU.

It doesn’t matter if “everyone” does it a certain way or if research shows that’s the best way.

The best way is the way that YOU make happen.

Using meal prep as an example:
I do not enjoy the meal prep process. I don’t mind preparing food, but I do mind the predetermining what I’m going to eat for the week ahead. How am I supposed to know what I’m in the mood for 3 days from now!? Lol. So I keep things on hand like fruit, fresh or frozen, almonds, nutritious shakes and leftovers from going out to eat.

On occasion, I’ll buy chicken and bagged stir-fry and prepare several containers for lunch. The reason this works for me is I can freeze it and eat it when I feel like it. Nothing goes to waste if my plans change and a friend wants to meet for lunch.
One day I might decide to master meal prep; however today, it works for me to do this loose meal prep. I’m getting the results I want with this method.

I encourage YOU to find what works for you and OWN it.

No one is right or wrong for their preferred daily habits.

Find what works for YOU and go with it. If it doesn’t give you the result you want then maybe you will have to try a method you don’t love then.

Start with what works for YOU.
