Do You Fitbit?

Yep, it’s a new verb!

After the 5th person told me how much they love their Fitbit ChargeHR, I had to check it out for myself.

I’ve always been an advocate of tracking your exercise with a device like the Polar Heart Rate Monitor, but I didn’t see the value in counting steps. I was focusing more on what you would get out of an exercise session instead of what you get ALL DAY.

After less than a week with the Fitbit I TOTALLY SEE what I was missing!

It’s already affecting my behavior. Sunday, I was headed to the pool in the afternoon when I noticed I was only half way to my goal of 10,000 steps. Instead of going straight to the pool, I took a walk around the neighborhood for about 30 minutes and THEN went to the pool. I would NOT have done that if I hadn’t been tracking my steps with a device that I can easily access on my wrist.

Yesterday, I challenged two friends to a “Daily Showdown” to see who could walk the most steps in the day.  It’s cool how something so simple can get so many people motivated and having fun.  #smile2getfit  YEP.

Do you have a Fitbit? If so, what do you like about it? Does it influence your daily behavior?
