Embrace the Process

Some people are very motivated by dream boards and fabulous photos about where they are going to be one day.

Others are not.

I could argue both styles, but what’s really important is that you know which one motivates YOU.

If you’re the type that is turned off by dreamy photos of a future you’ll “never attain”, then you need to embrace the process instead of the end result.  Embrace the process of doing the things each day that will lead you to the dreamy result that you want.

What does that mean?  Here’s an example:

Goal:

Get healthy and lose 20 pounds

Process:

Walk 8,000 steps

Eat 5 servings of vegetables and 5 servings of protein (among other things)

Drink 8 glasses of water (or more)

Do 20 push-ups and 20 squats

You’ve heard that 1000 times.

These are the type of things you have to consistently do to get healthy and lose weight.  These are things that you CAN control. These are actions you CAN take each day.  The number of pounds you lose this week is not exactly in your control. Your body has some work to do to adjust to your new lifestyle, and it might not cooperate as quickly as you would like.

Know your personality and thought processes, and use them to get what you want.  It’s not always easy, but it will be worth it.

Make the choice to live the life you truly want.
