Life Hacks – Energize Your Afternoon

Today I want to give you a life hack tip for energizing your afternoon.

When I used to work in offices all day, I was a huge fan of sunshine breaks.  Now I aim for a couple hours a day working outside {probably in the shade}.

There’s just something about standing in the sunlight for a few moments that re-energizes me.  I’m sure there’s a fancy scientific reason for that; however, once you try it you’ll believe me.

Today’s goal – take a sunshine break!

When I used to have a typical office job, I would declare sunshine breaks.

Smokers get smoke breaks, so I felt entitled to sunshine breaks.

Pro Tip: Set an alarm on your phone or designate a time that you’ll have a quick sunshine break.

All you have to do is walk outside and aim your face toward the sun. You don’t have to stay long enough to get sweaty – as I’m typing this, I am getting sweaty in the shade on this hot June Memphis day!

I love my non traditional work schedule that allows me to do most computer tasks and client calls from anywhere – including in the sunshine.

If that’s your goal or not, you can still start today by getting outside once or twice and soaking up some rays!

This post was inspired by Summer and also an article I read about how the 40 hour work week is changing. I hope to see more change on this topic in my lifetime.

I believe people should do work that matters to them and when they are engaged in work that matters, they will show up and get it done! No need for strict hours and limited vacation days. – Lauren Phelps

I’d love to know where you soak up the sun!  Tag me in your pic or send me a note! Also send a note if you’re interested in an alternate work life.

This is Part 3 in a series called Life Hacks!  Here’s Part 1 and 2 if you missed it.  Send me a note to suggest a topic!
