How to Get What You Want

Many people fail to get what they want because they never actually define or decide what it is that they want.

I’m the classic example.  Since college, I have failed to get what I want out of my career.  If you said, “Lauren, what’s your dream job?”, I would say, “I don’t know.”   So guess what –  I didn’t get what I wanted. I wasn’t satisfied. I wasn’t headed anywhere exciting.

Almost six years later, after years of soul searching, reading books, attending conferences, and interviewing others, I finally know what I want.

I want to help YOU become the best version of yourself.

Soon, I will share with you my latest ideas.  Today, I’ll tell you that it’s going to be fun, and I am excited.

So, how do you get what you want?

1. Clearly define what you want.

Details, people!  Write out all the details or search for pictures to create a vision of what you want.  You have to see it in your mind, know it in your heart, and act accordingly.

2. Get FIRED UP about achieving #1

If you aren’t fired up, pumped up, or excited about your goals, then you’ll never achieve them.  Goals take work.  Why would you work hard for something you don’t care about?  You wouldn’t.  Make sure your goal is what YOU want – not what someone else wants you to want.

3. Lay out a step-by-step plan.

Once you know what you want, you can devise a plan to get it.  Sometimes what you want might be 2 years away, but you can make decisions today that will affect who you are 2 years from now.

You’ll be the same in five years as you are today, except for the people you meet and the books you read. – Charlie ‘Tremendous’ Jones.

You have to be intentional and make small, daily deposits toward what you want.

4. Setup a filter in your mind and apply it to all your decisions.

Filters looks like this :

External Factor: Would you like a dessert– cocktail–trip to McDonald’s–free pizza?

Self: Would any of those things help me to reach my weight loss goal?

Self:  NO!

You: Politely decline. Walk away. Do whatever you have to do to remove yourself from the temptation.

It’s YOUR DECISION and YOUR CHOICE to give up things you want right NOW for the the things you REALLY want long term.  Every small choice you make toward your goal WILL count toward your success.  If you choose to give in to little temptations frequently, you are telling your mind that it’s okay to  not reach your goal. It’s okay to be average and not achieve everything you want to in life.

I have a feeling that’s not you.  You aren’t average.

You are going to be successful at anything you DECIDE to do.

The future is bright.  I’m here to help.

How can I help you today?  Do you need help defining what you want or installing a filter?

Let’s talk.
