Behind the Scenes at Tony Robbins Date with Destiny Part 2

One of my favorite things about this Date with Destiny was the chats under palm trees.

It’s sooooooooo cold inside the venue, so anytime we could hop outside for a moment, you’d find a few people warming up in the sunshine next to a palm tree.

I heard a familiar story at the event on this particular day. Sometimes we have to hear the same information multiple times in order to really understand or implement the lesson.

The topic: One reason we will never change!

Tony Robbins teaches about the dangers of using “softeners” – words that make our situation easier to deal with or makes it softer and more cuddly.

Example: You’re feeling overweight, and you’re like, “Oh, I’m just a little bit chubby, whatever, it’s no big deal,” then you’re probably not going to change your situation and lose weight.

But if you’re like, “Man, I feel gross, disgusting, I’m not gonna live this way another day,” you’re probably gonna change your situation, dial in your nutrition, and lose weight.

Apply this to your life.

What areas of your life is not meeting your standards? What kind of language are you using around that topic?

Are you making it less than it really is?

Are you making it no big deal?

Are you using words that are making it okay for you to continue to be that way?

Because if you are, you’re going to continue to be that way.

Ouch.

Wanna make a change?

Get REAL with yourself by using hard words instead of soft words.

Check out the video for my example involving not wanting to feel disgusting anymore and eating less junk food.

I’d love to know your experience – did this technique help you create a new pattern? Let’s chat about it.

This is Part 2 in a series called Behind the Scenes at Date with Destiny.  Check out Part 1 if you missed it!
