3-Day Refresh – My Experience

Do you ever feel gross after a weekend of over indulging with food or alcohol?

Do you need a strict routine to force you to make better decisions?

This is why I chose to try the 3-day Refresh.  For me, it was a great way to detox and move away from my habits of dining out and having drinks during the week.  I didn’t care if I lost weight, but I wanted to feel better and break my routine.

What does the refresh entail?

It’s a 3-day program of Shakeology for breakfast, high-protein shakes for lunch and dinner, and digestive drinks. It’s supplemented with an array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats that will keep your energy and metabolism up.  You will most likely lose a few pounds, and you won’t be starving because you eat every few hours.

I documented my experience on Instagram and Facebook if you want to see what I ate each day.

How will you feel?

I felt very normal during the first day. The hardest part was breaking my habits of drinking unsweet tea and going out for lunch. Midway through the second day, I felt horrible. Headaches, nausea. Not good.  That lasted for about 4 hours and then I was fine again. I went to bed early and slept very well.  Day 3 was pretty normal as well, but I did take a nap mid morning.  Overall, I felt like I was getting enough food and the Refresh really wasn’t that difficult to stick with.

Why might you try the Refresh?

To kick-start a healthier lifestyle – make a clean break from eating and drinking habits that don’t support your health goals.

To break through a plateau – you’re in a rut and need to do something different to get your metabolism moving again.

To feel better – sometimes you have to remove certain things from your diet to realize that they make you feel bad.  If you’ve never gone significant periods without caffeine, bread, or dairy products, then you may not know the effect they are having on your body.

What now?

It’s Day 4. I’m down 4 pounds and 2 inches off my waist.  Do I go right back to my regular patterns?  Absolutely not.  I’m going to eliminate breads and cut back on dairy and see how I feel. I haven’t decided about eliminating unsweet tea. If I did, the people at Lenny’s would miss me! ha!
