Hangry Happens

lauren-phelps-coaching-blog We’ve all been hangry.  You’ve had a busy morning and all of a sudden it’s lunchtime and you’re staaaaaaaaaarving.  You didn’t pack your lunch and the lines at nearby restaurants are forever long.  This is not a good situation!

Good news – you can combat hangry by planning ahead.

Step 1:  Plan to eat every 2-3 hours.

Eating more often will keep you feeling more satisfied and minimize spikes of hunger and fullness.  This means you need food on hand. Pack raw almonds or protein shakes or bars. If you have a refrigerator, then snack options are endless!

Step 2: Remind yourself to eat every 2-3 hours.

Sometimes your schedule is so busy that you literally forget to eat.  Not good (for a couple reasons). Use simple tools like your phone alarm to remind you to stop for a snack.  MyFitnessPal is a great tool as well. You can set your meals for certain times of the day so you definitely won’t forget to stop for a bite.

Step 3: Reap the benefits of eating every 2-3 hours.

When you more often and regularly, you teach your body that you’re going to feed it. As a result, your metabolism is continuously burning and helping you lose or maintain weight.  Remember – you still have to eat the right foods!  This does not say eat cake every 2-3 hours! Ha!!

How often do you eat?
